Advanced Google Maps With More Features Launched For Android

An updated version of Google Maps for Android phones was launched. The new version (Google Maps for mobile 4.1) promises better search results with some new features which include; updated searches, swiping for more results, latitude widget and also an option for switching your accounts (if you are managing multiple identities, you can switch from your desktop to your mobile). The new version promises to be more precise, efficient and user friendly.

Some of it’s key features include:

  • Updated search results page:- Certain new buttons are provided with the help of which we can get directions as well as other helpful information. Extra space is also provided which helps in providing reviews and extra details.
  • Swipe for more details:- You can swipe your finger left or right for ratings, views and other information (Eg. You can view that Milk Pail Market specializes in cheese and has been given a rating of 4 to 5 stars.


  • Latitude Widget:- This feature enables the user to know about their friends’ location as well as know about the prevailing traffic conditions. The Android 2.1+ users can turn their home screen into an updating map, using Maps live wallpaper.
  • Switch Google Accounts:- If you are using multiple identities then Maps allow you to switch accounts instantly. Switching your accounts between your phone and desktop was never so easy.

All these features are available on your Android 1.6+ phones. Just update Maps to version 4.1
