Ever since the Windows Phone 7 has hit the shelves, there is an enormous number of mobile phone applications and various online social networking clients catching up. One such application is the Birdsong(released by Red Badger) – a newly released Twitter client for Windows Phone 7. Currently, Version 1 has shipped with a bunch of cool functions and there’s lots more to come (version 1.1 is in development already).

Birdsong is supposed to be a premium Twitter application that will provide its users a native, performant and functionally rich experience throughout. What makes it stand apart is its innovative design that has features such as infinite scrolling and off-line viewing that are powered by a custom document database.

Following is the quick overview of some of its key features :-

  • Configurable Timelines : You can configure the Timelines on the home screen. The feature enables You to add lists, saved searches and new searches as well as change the order in which the timelines appear.
  • Threaded Conversations : Conversations are flagged with a tweet property icon and hence allows you to view an entire conversation in context.
  • Integrated Picture Viewing with all major picture sharing services (twitpic, yfrog, flickr, plixi and moby).
  • Birdsong’s Direct Message Threading feature organises all direct messages like an email inbox.
  • Map previews and Bing Maps integration for geo-tagged tweets.
  • Share existing or new photos using the fast TwitPic integration.
  • the integrated browser enables you to view web links without leaving Birdsong i.e. there’s no need to launch Internet Explorer (although you can)
  • The status bar shows your configured timelines, which one you are currently viewing, your unread counts and each timeline’s update status.
  • Explore your friends’ profiles, timelines and connections.
  • Integrated Theme : Birdsong will automatically inherit your theme settings, honouring your choice of background and accent colour.

You can get your hands on Birdsong in the Windows Phone Marketplace and is offering a fully featured trial. And do not loose sight of version 1.1 which is on its way, with even more functionality.
