Tech blog BGR leaked the touch Smartphone from RIM – BlackBerry Touch Monaco earlier at the start of the year in January, but is now confirming this Smartphone in a RIM road map for the year 2011. As we can hear it, this BlackBerry Touch Smartphone will be launched under 2 different names/versions – Monaco and Monza, from which the BlackBerry Monza is going to be a global GSM version, whereas the BlackBerry Monaco will be for US Verizon wireless. Furthermore some reports are also suggesting that it can make an entry as BlackBerry Touch.
Lets now talk about some of the specs now that has been leaked out. The device is said to be slimmer, faster and stylish BlackBerry handset and it will run on BlackBerry OS 6.1. It is the same OS which requires users to have a BlackBerry ID to login to the system to gain access to its full functionality. There will also be built-in support for backup and restore of your data. The concept is that you have a BlackBerry ID as opposed to a PIN, which might help facilitate a cloud-type service for backing up data and restoring it, sharing contact information, switching devices, and so on – all tied to your BlackBerry ID.
Some other specs on board are as follows –
- 1.2 GHz CPU,
- 768MB of RAM,
- a 3.7 inch 800×400 display,
- a 5 megapixel camera capable of capturing video at 720p
- and NFC
There are no words on official release date or price yet but it is expected that this device will be officially announced in BlackBerry World event in May 2011. Do not worry as if we’ll keep you updated with all new happenings around the device.
