We mentioned in our earlier posts regarding the launch of BSNL WiMax. It will be one of the most competitive segments in the market in the coming time. Keeping in mind the competition, BSNL has launched various plans and tariffs, ranging from Home Plan 125 to 8 mbps connection, for the convenience of the customers.
The new WiMax services will be provided to the customers within a range of 15km radius, with the help of one small antenna. This can be certainly counted as a Large WiFi connection with a broader connectivity area. Since the area covered is small, the cost is also very small, starting for just Rs. 140/- for its rural customers. Since the connection is wireless, it will not get disconnected due to failure in fibre cables and is thus suitable for home and office use. BSNL offers a certain CPE (Customer Premises Equipment) which is a plug and play device allowing you to stay mobile in a smaller area by moving the connection which is not possible in Tata WiMax and Reliance Wimax services.
The only plan announced as yet is the 256 MB WiMax Plan. Current news is that BSNL is not going to install any new infrastructure, but it will use its existing towers for providing WiMax services.
