India based Olive Telecommunications recently announced the launch of its first ever 3G enabled laptops (First ever in India). They have named it as Zipbooks. Olive Telecommunications, which is a subsidiary of Tata Group’s Tata Teleservices (Also having a tie-up with the Chinese Co. Haier) will be made available with high speed broadband service provider Tata Photon+. The Zipbooks come with a preloaded Windows XP. Windows 7 will be made available very soon in the coming months.
The Netbooks which are powered by Qualcomm’s QSC6085 chipset and boasts of Intel’s Atom N270 processor is available with 1-GB DDR2 memory and 160-GB HDD. The netbook is WiFi enabled and weighs around 1.3 kgs. Olive Telecommunications have a tie-up with BSNL as well. So, it’s available with BSNL 3G also. The Olive Zipbook Z107H will cost about Rs. 25,000/-.
