A few days ago we had posted a news article on the upgrade of Android phones. Ever since the launch of Android 2.3 Gingerbread, lower Android versions seem to be “unwanted”. Also, most of the middle-end segment phones are based on Android 1.6 which constitute a major portion of the revenue. So, Sony Ericsson has decided to upgrade its flagship Sony Ericsson Xperia X8.
Previously, the X8 was based on Android 1.6, now it will soon be upgraded to Android 2.1. Besides, the X8, other smartphones to get the upgrade are Sony Ericsson Xperia X10, X10 mini and X10 mini pro. The X8 is an important phone for Sony Ericsson, and with the launch of Gingerbread, this was bound to happen in the times of tough competition from Blackberry phones and Nokia X6 (which falls in the same segment). Its cost is about €200 ($280), and comes with a 3.2 MP camera, a 3-inch display and A-GPS navigation.
