Vodafone 3G Plans Prepaid, Postpaid Charges & How To Activate It

Its high time that we move over the 2G spectrum scam that has been clouding over the India’s telecom sector for quite some time now and leave it to the government and investing agencies because the 3G technology is up there making bigger and better headlines. With not much long after BSNL, MTNL, TATA Docomo, Reliance Mobile and airtel launching their 3G services, Vodafone is right there to follow up.

Vodafone, rightly after their eye-catching ads during the India-England World Cup match on Sunday the 27th feb,2011 mistakenly leaked out their 3G tariff plans(both for Postpaid and Prepaid connections) on their websites. And we, the tech-bloggers’ community were all set to take the first note of this.

Vodafone 3G Prepaid Offers:

  • the tariffs ranges from Rs. 100 to Rs. 6250 according to your needs and usage.
  • monthly rental plans of Rs 100, 375, 650, 850, 1250, 3250, 4250 and 6250 come with the data usage of 100MB, 500MB, 1GB, 3GB, 5Gb, 6GB, 10GB and 30GB respectively.
  • additionally there are two combo offers too wherein Rs. 500/Rs.1000 will get you 500/1000 MB of free 3G data usage, 500/1000 Local or STD Minutes and also 500/1000 SMS.
  • all the plans except the Rs 3250/4250/6250 plans come with the validity of 30 days whereas they will offer you 180 days of validity.
  • only Rs 100 & Rs 375 plans are rid of the VOIP service.

Vodafone 3G Postpaid Offers:

  • almost same as that for the Prepaid customers(as mentioned above)
  • the only difference is that the Prepaid customers in the Rs. 1250/3250/4250/6250 plans, has the freedom to choose the usage within 30/180/180/180 days respectively. Whereas the postpaid customers with Rs. 3250/4250/6250 plans, gets to choose between the data usage of 1GB/3GB/5GB per month respectively.

Vodafone 3G ‘Mi-Fi’ Service :

Apart from 3G Prepaid and Postpaid offers, Vodafone has also come up with one innovative device which is called as “Mi-Fi”. This hot spot device has to offer the following features :

  • one can provide a secured as well as a shared mobile internet connection with up to 5 WLAN enabled devices so that you can share the internet with other users easily.
  • this device can do so for 4 hours after a full charge and can be easily charged with the help of  an in-box AC adapter or the PC USB cable.
  • being an HSDPA device, it can provide a maximum speed of 7.2 Mbps.
  • can also be used as a single-user USB modem by attaching the device to your computer using the supplied USB cable and the Vodafone Mobile Broadband software. Just connect the cable to a USB 2.0 port on your computer and software will automatically install from the device.

3G USB sticks:

There are also 3G USB sticks called by the names K350 and K3765 which can provide maximum 3G speeds of 3.6 MBPS and 7.2MBPS respectively.

Vodafone 3G Launch Date:

  • the exact launch date is still not out for the 9 circles of Vodaphone 3G spectrum i.e. Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu (including Chennai), Haryana, Uttar Pradesh (E) and West Bengal
  • you can either call 116 from your Vodafone number or the 111 from your Vodafone connection to speak with the Vodafone’s Customer care executive for more details on 3G.

Vodafone 3G Activation Process:

Most importantly, in order to activate 3G on your Vodafone Connection, sms “GO 3G” to 111 and also Vodafone customers also need to send the sms “ACT 3G” to 144 for activating the 3G Service after which you will get the details on the 3G Service activation and settings.
